W ate three fistfuls of mud this weekend. I sat through the first one thinking that he was about to learn a valuable lesson. I sat through the second one waiting for his common sense to kick in. I sat through the third one in awe. He then took his muddy hands and ran them again and again across his white T-shirt—white? don’t ask—beaming proudly as he streaked it brown. This incident was followed by what I call “Modern Milk Art”—where W turned a puddle of spilled milk into a Jakson Pollack-esque work of swirls and splatters across the kitchen floor.
This kid obviously has an artistic itch that must be scratched. So, I’m taking action—fast. I’m skipping the markers and the play-dough and going straight to the ultimate toddler medium: finger paints! Warm weather has hit NYC, so now is the time to strip little man to his skivvies, put down a tarp in the backyard and set him loose with these non-toxic paints (made only with food-based ingredients) from Nuno Organic. I have no doubt that our refrigerator will soon be graced with a masterpiece.
