Endorsing David Kroodsma for Copenhagen

I’ve written before about the Brita Climate Ride (and my attempts to learn the required camping skills). It’s an exceptional event that brings together activists from all walks of life who bike together for 300 miles over the course of five days from NYC to Washington DC. Among the environmentalists I’ve met, none is more spirited, thoughtful, and flat-out committed to the cause than David Kroodsma. The guy rode over 21,000 miles across North and South America to raise awareness about climate change. His account of that journey is both heartbreaking and heartwarming as he describes the places he visited and the people he encountered. David has also been integral to the Brita Climate Ride’s outreach efforts spearheading the innovative site ClimateRideLive.org which chronicles the annual event in real-time. It’s a very cool tool that expands the reach of the 140 or so riders nutty and committed enough to cycle the full distance each year and enables them to share the experience with a much broader audience.

Now David is in the running to be selected by The Huffington Post to attend the upcoming climate conference in Copenhagen to represent the concerns of citizens around the world and provide coverage of the event itself. I fully endorse David for this position and believe that his cross-cultural understanding of the issues culled from experience will provide unique insight into the dialogue that takes place there.

Visit David’s Kroodsma’s Candidate page on the Huffington Post and vote for him! He needs our help to be selected. Voting ends at midnight this Friday.

Good Luck, David. The Lazy Environmentalist is rooting for you.

***UPDATE: David won. Thanks to everyone who helped. He’s on his way to Copenhagen.
