Check this out if you want to garden in the desert. Instead of rocks and a few desert plants I am now converting my yard into a oasis of edible landscaping and a haven for birds and beneficial insects. I am going to enjoy every bud that blooms every bird that comes to visit. Check out the urbanfarm.org if you are a desert landscaper.
