Green Collar Jobs are Awesome

American_clay.jpg
Today's topic is one that gets us pretty excited over here at the Lazy Environmentalist. Green Collar Jobs are both pro environment and could also be the first stepping stone out of poverty for many Americans. According to Van Jones, leading Green Collar Job advocate, "The national effort to curb global warming and oil dependence can simultaneously create good jobs, safer streets, and healthier communities. This is the chief moral obligation in the 21st century -- to build a green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty."

Today's Featured Radio Guests:

Jyl De Haven - Owner of Going Green USA, an organization bringing together skilled workers fresh from the US military with a future in promising green careers.

Paul Hess
- 23 year old Marine Corps Sergeant Vet who served in Haiti and Iraq and participant in Green Collar Vets

Carol Baumgartel - VP of Sales and Marketing for American Clay Earth Plaster, manufactured in and using materials from the United States, American Clay uses natural clays and recycled and reclaimed aggregates to create healthful and beautiful interior finishes.

Topics Discussed Today:

Buying into the Green Movement - NY Times article from the Sunday, July 1st Style Section criticizing the legitimacy of "buying green".
