Golf Refugees: For the Rebellious Green Golfer

Eco Golf Refugees.jpg

Historical highlights in the game of golf include the first recorded golf game played in 1459 in Scotland by the Edinburgh Burgess Golfing Society. Then in 1931, Dr. Frank Stableford of the Wallasey & Royal Liverpool Golf Clubs altered the rules so that the player with the fewest strokes wins. Next, Tiger Woods demolished cultural barriers and drastically increased the sport's attendance and TV ratings.

Flash-forward to the latest breakthrough in Golfing history: the arrival of Golf Refugees, an indie golf brand described by GQ as "the irreverent brainchild of some wise-assed Gen-MTV British lads who are subverting golf's stuffy country-club image." Even better, the lads are are eco wise-asses.

Golf Refugees sells stylish gear for the anti-golfer golfing set. Tees and polo shirts are made from 100% organic cotton, the extra light but durable golf bags are made from high-gauge recycled polythene, and don't even get me started on their balls; the Golf Refugees developed proprietary Thermal Distance Technology (TDT) resulting in the ultimate long-distance golf ball ever. Also check out the inspirational video, The Maurie Flitcroft Story, which recalls the tale of the Golf Refugees' hero, Maurice, a professional crane driver who successfully played in the British Open four times between 1973 and 1990.
